iPhone 2.0 This Week
There has been much buzz around the new iPhone 3G that is coming out this week (July 11, 2008). However, I wonder if it's just hype or real excitement. Here is why I don't think it's real.
The iPhone 3G does not have any significant new physical features. It does have GPS and 3G speeds, but who really cares? The GPS is kind of cool, but the 3G is not even available in most places. Therefore, 3G doesn't matter and GPS is only if you are interested in that kind of thing.
The one thing I'm excited about on the new iPhone will be the new operating system. It will be updated to allow one key thing...The AppStore. So what does this mean?
The AppStore is bringing third party applications to the iPhone. This is important because it allows for people other than Apple to create applications for the iPhone. It will allow there to be more creativeness in the possible use of the iPhone.
Overall I'm looking forward to the new operating system, but the iPhone 3G...not so much. It is mostly just hype, but if you don't have an iPhone yet they are worth it. Go get one!

worthy hype
The 3G is really kinda lame... but it is a good way to market the phone. It is very hard to market a software update. The iphone 2.0 software is totally amazing and might very well be a game changer for mobile computing. With the update it feels like i have a new phone and it is way cool. Also, check out the OmniFocus app for organizing your projects and stuff. I tried it out and it is very cool!
It is cool that your getting ready to do some drupal stuff... it is much needed!
Keep on rockin,
Dave
