Mac vs. PC
Since the dawn of two of the greatest companies of all time there has been a battle raging on in the depths of the geeks' territories. That battle has been which of them are better.
As we all know these two companies have been Apple and Microsoft. The biggest difference in the two companies that keeps them from truly being directly compared is Microsoft does not manufacture personal computers whereas Apple does.
Nonetheless, the battle has raged between a Microsoft Windows based personal computer and Apple-based OS X personal computer.
The biggest complaint from most is the price of the machines. Apple computers are far more expensive than Windows computers. Or are they?
I recently stumbled upon a great study done by Technologizer.com on the price differences of 4 major personal computer manufacturers. The four companies were Apple, Hewlett-Packard, Dell, and Sony. Overall the computers hardware were all matching with minor exceptions. They were not the base models, nor were they the top-of-the-line models.
In this comparison there was quite the shock at the result. After much detail in the study it was concluded that all the computers were within $100 or less of each other with the exception being the Sony computer. Everyone thought the MacBook, that was used in the comparison for Apple, would be far more than the rest, but in reality the Sony was $300 more than all the other computers.
I deal with a lot of people coming to me with there computer problems. Most of which tend to be Windows users. In fact, I always joke with them saying "I think I know what the problem is..." They reply "Really? What?" I usually turn back and ask "Does it say Windows on it anywhere?"
Although that is a very cheesy joke it seems to contain much truth for me. I'm not saying that Apple computers don't have there problems, but after a year with my Apple not having to do any sort of fix on it I can't complain.
The application is really where you need to decide what kind of a computer to buy. Apple computers have there purpose, and so do Windows computers. Apple computers are great for creating multimedia content, and Windows computers are great for gaming as maintaining business infrastructures.
A big complaint that people have had over the years about Apple computers is that things are not compatible with Windows computers. However, with new technology that is no longer the issue. In fact, you can actually run Windows on an Apple computer. With that in mind, there is no compatibility issues with file formats or software.
Windows machines are still much easier in certain business infrastructures. Mostly this is due to certain networking capabilities, but with Apple you do have access to the root of the operating system to do whatever you would like.
At the end of the day, the battle is continuing to rage on. Is there a winner yet? No. However, you now know that both opponents are very equal in capability and value. The choice is up to you as to what your next computer will be. I chose Apple. What will you choose?
